Abstract
The study targeted the books of travelers and geographers who wrote about the history of Anbar and its rivers during the Islamic eras and explained some of its plans. It provided us with a picture that can be extrapolated in their writings such as Ibn Khordadbeh, al-Yaqoubi, al-Baladhuri, al-Hamdani, al-Istakhri, Ibn Hawqal, al-Maqdisi, al-Idrisi, al-Hamwi and others, as they described the sources of the rivers, their geography and the buildings erected on them.In this study, we tried to talk about the most prominent rivers and the cities located on their banks, and to explain the urbanization on their sides, as well as their role in the prosperity of economic life in the cities of Anbar.
