Abstract
The study aims to know the change in the percentage of vegetation cover in Najaf Governorate using the vegetation cover index (NDVI), where the duration of the study was divided into five micro-climatic cycles and tracked the extent of the change in vegetation cover during the five cycles in the two seasons (summer) through the use of modern geographical techniques Including remote sensing technology, where the study concluded that the study area tends to drought and the encroachment of dry areas at the expense of green areas
Research problem: - Is there a discrepancy in the standard vegetation cover index (NDVI) in Najaf Governorate for the hot season of the year?
Research hypothesis: - Yes, there is a temporal and spatial variation in the standard vegetation cover index (NDVI) in Najaf Governorate during the hot season (summer).
The aim of the research: - This study aims to detect and control the extent of spatio-temporal change of vegetation cover in Najaf Governorate during the hot season of the year (summer) for the time period from 1966 - 2020 AD.
