The hypothesis came that the bottom of the reservoir had an effect on leakage of levels and consequently its decrease. The rainy capacity was extracted to the study area, and the study proved that it occurred within the areas of weak and moderate rain induction and that the highest intensity of rain erosion reached (123) in 1991

Al-Anbar University Journal For Humanities, 2019, Volume 2019, Issue 3, Pages 147-171

Water resources considered as one of most important vital national resources factors. Thus, water possesses necessary role to grow and develop the life and city by exploiting for different agricultural, industrial, electrical and tourist activities. Monitoring the water resources by traditional methods is difficult and needs cost and time. Haditha lake is located on Euphrates 7 KM north in front of dam extended to western north up to Rawah. Water storing in lake began 1985-1986 with area of 503KM2. The study objected to investigate the changes of the surface area of the lake form 1987 up to 2018 depending on RS and GIS using Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) index for drought and using hydrological indices and its effect on surface area variation after lake establishment during 1985. Thus, the variation was represented in area using histogram which revealed that lake subjected to big losses in area at water. Results showed that the surface area possesses high variation. Thus, the surface areas was reduced from 341 and 432 KM2 in 1987 and 1990, respectively to 148 KM2 in 2018. Regression analysis indicated that each increase of water level about 1m caused increase of lake area of 18.07 KM2. Significant positive correlation between lake area and lvel was observed of 0.973**.
