Abstract
This study aimed to identify the concept of counselor skills from the participant's point of view and to detect their perceptions about the aims of the 21st Century and the skills of counselors in the 21st Century to enable them to achieve sustainable development goals by using the qualitative narrative design on a purposeful sample that consisted of (n= 22) male (n=12) and female (n= 10) counselors, their ages ranged between (31-46 years), with a mean age of 37.86 years and a standard deviation of 4.622. Data was collected from the participants through stories and individual experiences using in-depth semi-structured interviews, counseling work reports, focus groups, and a narrative framework. The researcher discussed those experiences with the participants. The results revealed that counselor skills could be defined as "professional mechanisms that include soft personal traits and complex technical skills that the counselor relies on to achieve the best results in his professional practice to change the client’s personality, behavior and performance in his life, to solve his problems, overcome obstacles, create opportunities for his personal growth and reach the maximum level of mental health, well-being, quality of life and personal effectiveness by gaining and maintaining the trust of the client." The results also showed that there are many skills that the counselor in the 21st Century must possess to enable him to perform his professional role efficiently and creatively i
